Humble Beginnings
Just recently, I’m starting to pick up on the basics of search engine optimization and internet marketing. One of the most daunting tasks right off the bat was easily keyword research. Being inexperienced and new to the game, I tried analyzing my competition without any keyword tools as I wanted to do everything manually to fully understand the process of keyword research. This meant that I had to manually check the URL’s in the search engine results pages one by one within Yahoo Site Explorer.
Unfortunately, this was very time consuming, and I really wasn’t learning much aside from knowing how to find backlinks my competition had. For a newbie like me, that’s fine as I was starting to see how things ticked and why sites were ranked so high.
As I started getting my low competition sites to rank and began to see sales come in from my affiliate sites, I knew I had to attack the higher competition keywords. That meant that I needed to invest in a sound keyword tool for my research. All this manual work just wasn’t cutting it for me.
My First Test Drive with a Keyword Tool
Everyone in internet marketing always suggests Market Samurai for keyword research. For a while, it was considered the industry standard. After discussing this with some internet marketing friends online, I found a discount code online and bought myself a copy of this software.
Coming from a manual approach to keyword research, it was nice using this keyword tool, yet lately it’s been lacking and acting weird. The Yahoo Site Explorer links haven’t been accurate and overall, it’s been acting rather buggy despite the constant updates. So I started looking for alternatives that had less problems and produced more detailed reports than the aging Market Samurai.
The Beginning of My Success
After doing hours of searching on Google and digging through posts on the top internet marketing forums, I came across a free trial for this keyword tool that runs in your browser. By simply signing up, I was allowed up to 500 free scans. And I thought Market Samurai was a time saver? This keyword tool called Precision Keywords was pretty much the all-in-one solution I needed in my arsenal.
While I found it odd that you pre-pay for scans unlike Market Samurai which was a one-time purchase, Precision Keywords is in a league of its own. Every scan I made was so deep and detailed that I pretty much knew what to expect from my competition. First of all, I can enter a basic „seed“ keyword and the tool will find other related variations that can potentially be profitable for my sites.
Because of the tool’s ability to dig deeper and deeper, I was afraid I would end up with only useless, low-volume keywords that lacked commercial intent. However, thanks to this Precision Keyword’s advanced filtering features, I was able to find some awesome buyer keywords for my first authority site. The tool would also automatically eliminate keywords that were too competitive to touch. If I were to use Google’s Keyword Tool or Market Samaurai, it’d take forever to dig this deep. With these keywords, I was able to direct longtail traffic to my site. The competition for this site’s niche is rather tough, especially if I were to target the biggest keywords, but these longtail keywords that Precision Keywords found for me gave me a chance.
Now, I’m more in control of my search engine optimization projects as I know exactly what keywords to target in order to produce sales on my sites. If I were to start internet marketing again from scratch, I would definitely use Precision Keywords from the beginning.
