The use of hemp products in deodorants is probably going to be different to society’s current perception of the product. To clarify, hemp as a deodorant today is different in its function and effectiveness in comparison to the traditional deodorants available today. Such as:
1. The spray on cans,
2. The roll on tubes
Let us face it, you know the spray cans are not good for your skin (tonnes of literature available out there for your review), however we put up with them because they provide our bodies with temporarily good fragrances. Additionally, the roll on products can get gritty and gross and can cause itches to the underarm. Then once you sweat and it mixes with the chemicals, it has a very off-putting smell. Kind of like, a rotten orange?
Generically speaking, many deodorant products are developed to be mostly applicable to the underarm (and pubic) areas, but not many people have stopped to consider the most important fact:
1. Your body odour occurs to be the most dominant scent omitted by all pores of your skin and that means a very effective deodorant should be applicable to the entire body’s skin organ. It is the largest organ in the body (huge surface area)! A bad smell in a specific area can be compensated for by the rest.
So here are a few tips to capitalise on from the perspective of a hemp enthusiast:
a) Eat a well balanced diet, limiting the number of saturated and animals fats you intake and moderating your alcohol consumption (especially beer).
b) Take a look at hemp based deodorising products which are generally applicable as an „all body moisturiser“. This is beneficial for your skin, and you can avoid having to use the conventional methods that 90% of the population have bought into. Usually pure hemp products possess a less off-putting effect when mixed with perspiration.
c) Choose a good smelling fabric softener for your clothes and that way you do not necessarily have to use a skin based remedy (depending on your preference of course).
d) Exercise regularly throughout the week and it helps regulate the toxins in your body and you’ll also „look like you smell better“.
In general, I am of the belief that there are many Alternative Solutions out there which offer the functionality of a deodorant and more (I.e. keeping a healthy smell) without having to trade off on the well-being of your skin. This is as easy as shifting the perception that you only have to address the pubic areas of your body. Think creatively, and with a little bit of research to understand what your ideal deodorant is, and see how the properties of hemp seed oil as a primary ingredient in hemp deodorant may be best for you.
