Chair pads, floor cushions, and pet beds are some of the many types of patio cushions. Side from adding comfort and support to users, cushions can also accentuate patio furniture.
First is the chair pad. Original purpose of the chair pad is to make hard seat surfaces more comfortable and softer to sit on. However, recent consumer need like style and medical conditions caused chair pads to adapt in the changing times. Several designs like floral and stripes are now available to blend with different themes by each user. Various sizes are also manufactured to fit on different chair sizes ranging from single chair to family couches. Furthermore, special material and pad design are being researched to alleviate some medical conditions like injuries and back problems.
For consumers with small patios and avoids high cost and bulky patio furniture, patio cushions and furniture can be merged into one by having floor cushions. This cushion is now gaining popularity especially for younger consumers because it is cheaper, smaller, and easier to rearrange. Floor cushions like bean bags often have striking colors and firm construction giving it a sense of freshness and comfort as well.
Pet beds are obviously intended for household pets. It offers the same comfortable cushion for pets because most pet beds were made from the same material and constructed in a way that it will benefit the pets.
In addition to cushion type, another important consideration for patio cushions is its filling. Different outcomes and levels of comfort can be achieved through varying types of fillings.
Conventional foams are common fillings used in couches, mattresses, and other household cushioning application. It is also used in covered patios, window seats, and in boats. It comes in rounded edge and custom shapes aside from its typical rectangular blocks and T-shape designs.
Another filling is the outdoor foam. Compared with conventional foams, this filling dries faster because of its larger foam cells. Its large cells cause water to penetrate on the other side with less intervention on its performance. Because of this, outdoor foams are very much suitable for patios and other outdoor applications.
Patio cushions also use sophisticated fillings like memory foams and polyurethane. Such materials offer added comfort and support to users because it can follow the contour of the body. Examples of cushions with this filling are foam sacks, bolsters, and leg pads. Foam sack is very similar with bean bag but it is filled with polyurethane foam instead of bean-like material. Bolsters are often used as fillers and is great for leg and back support while leg pads are used to lessen pain and pressure in the lower body.
