If your subjects absolutely have to wear bright, bold colors, try to get them to wear at least one item that is black in order to avoid a clash of colors.

When taking pictures without a flash you must be far more aware of the lighting in the scene around you. If you use the zoom feature and go in close to your subject, you will block some of the shadows and sunspots, which will increase the quality of your photo.
